Abdi Sirat, a resident of Sankuri ward, welcomed the announcement, stating, "The decentralized unit will provide government functions and services that were initially difficult to access. Seeking services in Balambala Sub County, which is 130 km away from Sankuri, was difficult and costly, particularly at this time when rains rendered roads impassable."
He expressed that the elevation of Sankuri and Shanta Abaq was long-awaited, as residents had been constantly pleading with political leaders and senior government officials.
